Serena and Venus Williams receive a doubles wild card for the US Open
A wild card entrance has been granted to Serena Williams and Venus Williams as they prepare to compete in doubles at Flushing Meadows.
Serena’s final event of what might be called a legendary career is anticipated to be this one.
Since falling in the third round of the French Open in June 2018, the sisters have not participated in any doubles competitions.
After winning the US Open trophy in doubles twice, in 1999 and 2009, they will team up for the ninth time.
A third-place finish in the doubles competition would offer Serena a memorable send-off.
Although the two women have played together in doubles at prior major slams, winning 14 titles altogether, this will be Serena’s final tournament, therefore the two sisters will give it their all.
The US Open is set to start on Monday, August 29th.
Sophie Chang and Angela Kulikov, Robin Montgomery and CoCo Vandeweghe, Katrina Scott and Elizabeth Mandlik, Peyton Stearns and Ashlyn Krueger, Hailey Baptiste and Whitney Osuigwe, and Clervie Ngounoue and Reese Brantmeier were among the other women’s doubles teams to receive wild cards from the USTA on Saturday.
