R. Kelly Convicted For Child Pornography

After a month-long trial in his hometown of Chicago, the disgraced R&B singer R. Kelly, who is currently serving a 30-year sentence for sex offenses, was found guilty of child pornography charges on Wednesday.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Robert Sylvester Kelly (R. Kelly’s full name), was found guilty on three charges of creating child pornography and three counts of enticing a juvenile.

According to the publication, a federal jury cleared three-time Grammy Award winner R. Kelly of seven additional counts, including the allegation that he interfered with justice during a prior trial.

R. Kelly and two former associates were charged with manipulating the singer’s 2008 child pornography trial, which resulted in a not-guilty decision from the jury.

Kelly’s former manager, Derrel McDavid, and an ex-employee, Milton “June” Brown, was also acquitted on Wednesday of the obstruction charges.

Kelly was convicted in New York in September of recruiting teenagers and women for sex.

The “I Believe I Can Fly” artist was found guilty of eight charges of sex trafficking and one count of racketeering in the New York case.

The #MeToo movement hailed Kelly’s conviction in New York as a turning point since it marked the first significant sex assault trial in which Black women made up the vast majority of the accusers.

It was also the first time Kelly was charged with a crime for the mistreatment of women and children about which there had long been rumors.

Kelly is also under investigation by two additional state authorities.
