Re-election: Abiodun storms Ogun Waterside, promises Jetty completion
Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, has assured the people of Iwopin in the state's Ogun Waterside local government area that if re-elected, he will pursue the timely completion of the Iwopin Jetty being built in the riverine community.

Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has assured the people of Iwopin in the state’s Ogun Waterside local government area that if re-elected, he will pursue the timely completion of the Iwopin Jetty being built in the riverine community.

Abiodun made the assurance during a stop in Iwopin town on Friday as part of his campaign tour of Ogun Waterside local government.

The governor stated that once completed, the jetty would not only boost trade in the local government but would also ensure that the council area has unrestricted access to the Dangote refinery, which would be easier to reach via the jetty.

Abiodun, who also stated that he would ensure that the remaining two segments of the jetty are completed on time, stated that the project, which was initiated by President Muhammad Buhari’s APC administration, would be completed in record time by the incoming administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The governor declared that an All Progressives Congress-led administration at the federal and state levels would benefit the people of the local government and the state as a whole.

“Can you see what the Federal Government is doing here? The All Progressives Congress-led administration at the center built this jetty. They will finish the project for you, it remains just two segments before it is finally completed”.

While urging the people of the town to be wary of a particular political party backed by a former governor of the state who did nothing for the local government during his eight years in office, he urged them to ask that party and their financier to point to something the local government benefited from his administration.

Abiodun, who found it amusing that the former governor, who still parades himself as a member of the ruling APC, moves around arrogantly parading aspirants from other parties, revealed that his administration, in fulfillment of his promise to develop the state, would commission the Agodo/Lukogbe/Lukula/Tigara road.

“There’s a party here.” I don’t even know what their names are; if you look at them closely, you can see.

“Your town is home to the Gateway Petroleum Institute. I told your rector that I would upgrade this institute because it is working hard.

Ogun State is on its way to becoming an oil-producing state. We must act quickly to ensure that the institute is ready before we become an oil-producing state so that our children can receive training in a variety of fields,” he said.

The governor, who also stated that he would ensure that the local government continues to have access to uninterrupted power supply, stated that it is a promise he is ready to fulfill, having previously been able to power the local government.
