INEC Extends Deadline For Party Primaries

The time for party primaries has been extended by INEC ahead of the 2023 election.

The Independent National Electoral Agency (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral commission, has extended the deadline for political parties to hold primaries until June 9, 2022.

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that  INEC announced this in a statement on Friday, May 27, 2022, after meeting with the heads of the 18 registered political parties, according this internet news portal.

INEC stated the Inter-Party Advisory Commission (IPAC) had requested a week extension for political parties to complete their presidential conventions and primaries, according to Touchaheart Nigeria.

IPAC chairman, Engr Yabagi Yusuf Sani, urged INEC to adjust its June 3rd timeline for the conduct of primaries.
