Dr. Alex Otti, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, has been declared the winner of the state governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
On Wednesday afternoon, INEC returning officer for the state, Professor Nnenna Oti, declared Dr. Otti the winner.
Otti received 175, 467 votes, outnumbering his closest rival, Okey Ahiwe of the PDP, who received 88,529 votes, according to the results announced by the returning officer.
Otti’s announcement had been delayed due to PDP attempts to inflate votes from Obingwa local government, the home local government of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the state’s incumbent governor.
