Lagos Opens Chrisland For Terminal Classes

touchaheart Nigeria reports that in advance of their upcoming exams, students in terminal classes are now permitted to visit Chrisland High School in Opebi. This permission comes from the Lagos State Ministry of Education.

 

In a statement, Ms. Folasade Adefisayo, the commissioner for education, mentioned and provided an update on the case of Whitney Adeniran, a deceased student at the school.

 

At the Agege Stadium, Adeniran passed away while participating in a school interhouse competition.

 

According to the commissioner,

 

the school will stay closed until all relevant legal proceedings superintended over by the state’s Ministry of Justice and other current administrative inquests within the purview of the Office of Education Quality Assurance and other authorities are completed.

 

She also mentioned that plans were being made for different types of students to resume their studies.

 

The interim authority to permit JSS3 and SS3 pupils in the terminal classes access to the school was granted, the commissioner continued, “to enable them to participate in their terminal examinations.

 

The ministry will continue to engage with Whitney Adeniran’s family with the help of the Lagos State Joint Task Force, which is in charge of carrying out the child protection policy and safeguarding and is made up of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, such as the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Office of Education Quality Assurance, and others.
