NYSC Disowns Ex-Corper, Warns Against Uniform Abuse

NYSC disowns ex-corper, warns against uniform abuse

touchaheart Nigeria reports that Ukanwa Ikechukwu, a former corper, has been cut off from the National Youth Service Corps’ management.

Ikechukwu was charged on Friday in Oyo State’s Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court with defrauding a police officer of N235,000.

Ikechukwu’s youth service, according to the NYSC, was completed in February 2023, according to a statement by the director of press and public relations, Eddy Megwa.

However, the plan informed corps members that their uniform did not offer protection from any kind of illegal activity.

The following excerpt from the statement was included in the statement: “The attention of the NYSC management in Oyo State has been attracted to the information circulating on social media concerning a corps member committed to jail in Ibadan, Oyo State, for criminal crime. The following clarifications are requested by management. The aforementioned Ukanwa Ikechuwuku is no longer a corp member and finished his or her National Service in February 2023.

Secondly, while he was in service, he raised N235,000 to buy a physiotherapy machine for a woman at the police clinic where he was working, but he was unable to do so. The woman tried repeatedly to receive a return of her money from this former member of the military but was unsuccessful, so she decided to file a criminal complaint against him.

I want to stress that the federation’s laws apply to everyone, thus wearing a NYSC uniform does not grant you immunity from criminal activity.
