According to reports, Olasupo was abducted around 6.30 am on Sunday in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State near the Eledumare-Fidiwo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The abduction was confirmed by a TRACE source, who requested anonymity because the situation was so delicate.
Additionally, it was learned that some police officers and volunteers are presently pursuing the shooters.
According to the source, the official was the sole one taken hostage after the gunmen, who had been hiding in the bushes, opened fire on a commercial bus carrying other passengers.
As of the time this article was filed, attempts to reach TRACE spokeswoman Babatunde Akinbiyi for comment had been fruitless.
Both phone calls to Akinbiyi’s mobile and a text message addressed to him went unanswered.
SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the event when reached.
“Our anti-kidnapping team has already begun to pursue them. As we search the woodland, we are confident that everyone will be taken into custody.
“Ogun State is not a place where criminals should set up shop. We will either smoke them out of this state or they will have to go, Oyeyemi stated.
