Tragic Incident at Redeemed Christian Church of God, Abule-Ori


Touchaheart Nigeria reports a distressing incident unfolded at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Abule-Ori, Nigeria on Saturday, July 1st.

A  group of unidentified gunmen on Saturday stormed a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) located in Abule-Ori, within the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. Regrettably, the Pastor was killed during the incident, while seven worshippers were abducted by the assailants.

Soji Ganzallo, the commander of the Ogun State government-owned security company So-Safe Corps, who corroborated the incident, claimed that during the raid, his operatives freed seven churchgoers and killed one of the kidnappers.

In a statement he provided to reporters in Abeokuta, Moruf Yusuf, the director of information and public relations at So-Safe, stated that the event happened at around 12 am on July 1st.

Ganzallo remarked “the special operation team of the Corps, Owode-Egba Zonal Command, under ACC Jimoh Rasaki Omoniyi, received a distress call that some members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun Province 22, Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area were attacked during a vigil, while seven members of the church were kidnapped and the pastor killed.”

He stated that the Corps’ officers were given clear instructions to pursue the suspects and ensure the safe rescue of the kidnapped victims, emphasizing that “the officers swung into action immediately.”

Ganzallo revealed further that the corps’ efforts resulted in a success as “the seven victims were rescued unhurt, while one of the kidnappers was killed and many of the suspects sustained serious injury during exchange of gun fire.”

In addition, he mentioned that a combined team consisting of the Police and the So-Safe Corps is actively pursuing the fleeing suspected kidnappers with the intention of capturing them alive.

He revealed that the body of the deceased kidnapper has already been transported and deposited in a nearby morgue.
