Touchaheart Nigeria reports that the rematch between Whyte and Joshua drew closer with their agreement to compete on August 12th.
Initially, Joshua’s demand for a one-way rematch provision caused delays in the negotiations, but progress ensued when they dropped the clause.
They finalized the agreement on Sunday, July 2nd, and the coming weeks are expected to bring an official announcement.
If the fight proceeds, it will sustain a longstanding rivalry of over ten years between these highly regarded heavyweight fighters.

In 2009, three years prior to AJ’s Olympic gold win in London, they first crossed paths as amateurs, and Whyte claimed victory by unanimous decision.
In 2015, Joshua, the two-time heavyweight champion, sought retribution by dealing Whyte his first professional defeat and securing the British heavyweight championship with a knockout in Round 7.

Following Whyte’s match, Joshua is anticipated to face Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia later this year.
Hearn recently confirmed that the Wilder deal nears completion, and both parties intend to convene in London next week to finalize the contracts.
