Aryna Sabalenka, the world’s second-ranked player and the winner of the Australian Open, defeated Hungary’s Panna Udvardy on Tuesday to advance to the second round of Wimbledon.

In 2021, Sabalenka advanced to the semifinals at Wimbledon; however, due to the Russian and Belarusian players’ invasion of Ukraine, they were all banned in 2022.
To advance to the round of 32, the 25-year-old must defeat Varvara Gracheva of France or Camila Giorgi of Italy.
