Touchaheart Nigeria reports that unidentified gunmen have killed eight locals on the south side of Jos, Plateau.

More particularly, this act allegedly took place at at the Farin Lamba settlement in the Vwang District of Jos South Local Government Area of the Plateau.

In a statement released on Monday in Jos, Mr. Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Movement (BYM), a socio-cultural organization, revealed that the community was attacked by criminals on Sunday night.

“The gunmen invaded the village at about 9:45p.m. on Sunday in a car and shot sporadically at the victims.”

“Eight persons were killed including an eight-month-old baby. The minor was killed alongside the father as they were returning from the hospital,” He stated.

Tengwong condemned the recent killings in a number of communities in the local government districts of Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Jos South, and Mangu, noting that the pattern had resulted in extensive devastation of agriculture, homes, and other properties.

Tengwong, who praised the aggressive measures implemented by Maj.-Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar, Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), expressed optimism that all of the state’s difficult areas would soon experience enduring peace.

He complimented the Federal and State Governments in particular for sending mobile police officers to villages that were frequently attacked.

He urged the residents of Plateau to adhere to the law and assist security agencies in their efforts to establish enduring peace in the state.

Despite multiple attempts to reach Mr. Alfred Alabo, the Public Relations Officer of the Plateau Police Command, he did not answer the calls. However, a senior police official verified the occurrence of the attack.
