Touchaheart Nigeria reports that in Niamey, Niger Republic, Nigeria won the 2023 African U-21 Nations Women’s Volleyball Championship Zone 3.
Nigeria emerged victorious in the finals on Sunday night, securing the title by defeating Ghana with a score of 3:0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-10).
In their initial tournament match, the Nigerian girls comfortably overcame their local rivals, Ghana, with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-8) triumph.
In their second game, they defeated the hosts Niger by a score of 3-0 (25-4, 25-11, 25-4) to extend their winning streak.
In their third match, the squad also dominated Benin Republic, winning 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-9) to earn a rematch against Ghana in the championship.
Coach Rakiya Mohammed expressed gratitude to God for the triumph during her post-match statement.
“The Ghanaians came all out but the girls proved their worth and we have now qualified for the world championship in Thailand”.
The team was expected to have returned to Nigeria yesterday.
