Gunmen Invade Imo palace, Assassinate Monarch

In Imo State, Gunmen kill two police officers and two others

Gunmen have struck again in Imo State, Nigeria, this time targeting the palace of a traditional ruler.

The incident occurred on Monday morning when armed intruders entered the palace of Ignitus Asor, the Udi of Obudi Agwa community in Oguta Local Government Area.

Touchaheart Nigeria reports, the monarch was allegedly holding a meeting with two chiefs and two villagers when the gunmen attacked indiscriminately, killing all of them on the spot.

The assailants were said to have arrived in two white Hummer buses and three motorcycles.

The attack has sparked outrage and calls for justice from residents and leaders in the state. Hon Obinna Jumbo, the coordinator of Agwa Development Centre, described the incident as “ugly” and “shattered peace and tranquillity in Agwa community”.

The incident is the latest in a series of attacks on communities in Imo State by unknown gunmen, which has led to growing insecurity and fear among residents.

The Imo State police command confirmed the incident and promised to release official details on the attack.

The command also revealed that a pregnant woman and a local security officer were shot during another alleged attack by unidentified gunmen at Mgbala community.
