Farida Abdulkabir States Her Reasons For Almost Commiting Suicide

Farida’s marriage had failed, and because she could no longer handle her depression, she made the decision to commit suicide. She got out of her black sport utility vehicle on the Third Mainland Bridge and dove into the lagoon.

In a voice message that went viral on social media, Farida said that the breakdown of her marriage to Demola Okulaja, another Lagos celebrity, two months after their N100 million wedding, caused her a great deal of pain.

“Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant. It was love that pushed me into this. He told me that he was going to be with me, make me bore children for him. I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide. I have forgiven my ex-husband. May God provide him with another wife,” she said

Farida was rescued by passersby on Thursday evening, August 17, while attempting to jump into the Lagoon. She parked her SUV by the side of the bridge and attempted to jump into the Lagoon was quickly rescued by passersby.
