In a shocking turn of events, the Bauchi Command of the Nigeria Police has apprehended a 24-year-old housewife, Furera Abubakar, from the Ningi local government area of Bauchi state.

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that the young woman stands accused of committing a heinous act – the murder of her stepson, a four-day-old baby, using a deadly insecticide known as ‘gamalin.’

This incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting a thorough investigation by the authorities.

According to a press statement provided by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, this heart-wrenching incident came to light on August 19, 2023.

The police were alerted by a report from the Ningi divisional police headquarters, detailing the tragic sequence of events that unfolded within the household.

“The incident was reported to the Ningi divisional police headquarters on the 19th of August, 2023, which revealed that a four-day-old baby who was born on the 15th of August, 2023, was murdered by the suspect Furera Abubakar on the 19th of August, 2023, before the naming ceremony,” the statement read.

Preliminary investigations have provided disturbing insights into the circumstances surrounding the baby’s untimely demise.

It has been uncovered that the suspect, Furera Abubakar, is a co-wife of the nursing mother, who happens to be the victim’s biological mother.

The suspect reportedly gained access to the co-wife’s room, armed with a vial of the lethal insecticide ‘Gamalin,’ which she then applied to the delicate and unhealed umbilical cord of the infant.

This toxic liquid, suspected to be corrosive in nature, inflicted irreparable damage upon the fragile baby’s health, leading to a rapid deterioration that tragically culminated in his death.

The details of this heart-rending crime have left the community in shock and disbelief.

“The liquid which was suspected to be corrosive, affected and led to the deterioration of the baby’s health, eventually leading to his death.”

“The investigation is discreetly ongoing, after which the suspect will be profiled and charged to court accordingly,” SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil stated.

As the investigation continues to unfold, the authorities are committed to uncovering every aspect of this disturbing incident.
