President Tinubu instructs VP Shettima to lead a presidential team to AFCON Finale

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead a presidential delegation to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Côte d’Ivoire.

The Vice President previously stood in for the President during the semi-finals, where the Super Eagles secured a thrilling victory over South Africa last Wednesday, February 7. The Nigerian team is now poised to take on the host, Côte d’Ivoire, in an eagerly anticipated rematch at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan on Sunday, February 11.

The upcoming game will evoke memories of Nigeria’s 1-0 win during the group stage, clinched via Captain William Troost-Ekong’s penalty.

A statement released by the media aide to VP Shettima, Staley Nkwocha says;

recognizing the unifying power of football and the immense role the Super Eagles play in fostering national pride and unity, the President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, believes that Vice President Shettima’s presence at the finals alongside the delegation is a testament to the government’s unwavering support for the team and its dedication to their success.
