Touchaheart – Dr. Anuoluwapo Adepoju, a medical doctor and founder of MedContour Services Ltd., was convicted by the Federal High Court in Lagos State for a failed plastic surgery that resulted in the death of Nneka Onwuzuligbo in 2020.

Prolonged Prosecution Led to Conviction

Babatunde Irukera, a former director-general of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), announced on Friday that the prolonged prosecution of Adepoju had led to a conviction.

Irukera expressed pride in personally prosecuting Adepoju and her medical practice, emphasizing that the conviction strengthens accountability in society.

Background of the Case

Nneka Onwuzuligbo died in 2020 after undergoing a cosmetic surgery performed by Dr. Adepoju at her facility, Med Contour .

The FCCPC received complaints against Adepoju, alleging that her services were unsafe for consumers and that she made false and misleading representations in relation to the marketing of her services.

Charges and Conviction

Adepoju was arraigned on five counts and pleaded not guilty.

However, she was convicted by the Federal High Court, with Justice Mohammed Liman presiding.

The conviction marks a significant outcome in the case, highlighting the importance of accountability in the medical profession.
