Breaking: Organised Labour Suspends Strike for 5 Days

TOUCHAHEART – In a surprise move, the Organised Labour has announced a 5-day suspension of the ongoing nationwide strike, paving the way for uninterrupted negotiations with the Tripartite Committee on the new national minimum wage.

This development comes on the heels of a successful meeting between Labour leaders and government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, on Monday. The meeting resulted in a commitment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to a new minimum wage higher than N60,000, and a resolution to meet daily for a week to finalize the amount.

_Implications of the Suspension_

With the strike suspended, government and private offices are expected to reopen and function as usual. The suspension is a temporary reprieve, and the outcome of the negotiations will determine the next course of action.
