Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago, the Emir of Minna, was ambushed by armed robbers.

The event took place in Minna, the state capital, this evening.

Unknown money was hauled off by them. The cops have not yet located them.

The robbery attack on the Emir’s cashier has been denounced by Mohammed Umaru Bago, the governor of Niger State.

He also ordered the state’s security services to look into and apprehend offenders so they could face the full force of the law.

The act was termed by the governor as regrettable and the height of disrespect for traditional institutions in a statement by his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim.

He said that his administration would not sit back and enable criminals to cause suffering to state residents who were innocent.

“It is quite regrettable to have this kind of circumstance, not only in the state capital but also at the Emir’s Palace,” the statement read.

“My government won’t support this behaviour. I give the security agencies the task of looking into and locating offenders in order to bring legal action against them.

Bago, who felt for the Emir of Minna, Umar Farouk Bahago, during the robbery incident, prayed to God for rapid healing for the two Palace Aids.

According to reports, the incident happened today at around 2:30 pm when a group of five armed robbers followed the cashier from Minna Palace to a commercial bank where he went to withdraw money in a Toyota Camry.

Alh. Farouk Bahago, the Emir, was reportedly in the palace when the armed men began shooting erratically into the air to frighten off onlookers before stealing the money and fleeing the scene.
