Romanus Ejikeme, the father of Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme, has defended her daughter vehemently after she was charged with falsifying her JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board) score on the Unified Matriculation Territorial Test.
Mr. Ejikeme disputed the assertion made by the testing authority in an interview with lagoscityreporters.com, stating that his daughter had always been an exceptional student.
His daughter has always excelled academically, starting in elementary school and continuing until senior school, he said.
Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme, a student at the Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, was accused by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, or JAMB, of manipulating her result through a manual process and re-uploading the purported new score into its website on Saturday.
Mmesoma had registered for the UTME in April 2023 and submitted an application to the University of Lagos.
The part of the statement by the spokesperson for the examination board, Fabian Benjamin, that reads: “The printed slip shown by Mesoma was last used in 2021. The candidate’s picture is now included on the slip that is delivered. In addition, she received a 249 instead of the 362 she is flaunting, which she has already printed out.
Romanus Ejikeme, the accused’s father, insisted that the board’s allegation was untrue and that it should be held accountable for any confusion in an interview with ARISE NEWS.

Romanus Ejikeme claims that his daughter has always excelled academically, starting in primary school and continuing through her current post-primary years.
The accused received the following results, according to a quick scan at her result sheet, which was made public by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s head of public relations, Fabian Benjamin: All of the disciplines she took on the April exam yielded scores of 249 overall: Usage of English: 64; Physics: 54; Biology: 74; and Chemistry: 57.

The debate won’t go away anytime soon. Since that neither the JAMB nor the adolescent are qualified to judge their own cases, it may be appropriate to let a third party to look into the matter.
