Peter Obi Rejects New Presidential Jet Amid Poverty Crisis

TOUCHAHEART – Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has vehemently opposed the federal government’s consideration to purchase new aircraft for the presidency, citing the need to address the country’s economic crisis and alleviate poverty.

An Insensitive Decision

Obi described the recommendation by the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence as “unacceptable” and “insensitive” to the struggles of Nigerians.

He emphasized that the government’s priorities are at variance with the needs of society, exacerbating the country’s problems.

With Nigeria facing high inflation, a falling currency, widespread poverty, and insecurity, Obi stressed that the government’s focus should be on finding solutions to these challenges rather than indulging in luxury purchases.

A Tale of Two Residences

Obi drew a stark comparison between the US Vice President’s residence, valued at $7.5 million, and Nigeria’s decision to spend $15 million on the VP’s residence, highlighting the disparity in priorities between the two nations.

Obi urged the government to prioritize education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation, emphasizing the need to build a nation that serves its people, not just a privileged few.

He called on Nigerians to join forces in building a new Nigeria that prioritizes citizen welfare.
